Phil Dyer : Curriculum Vitae

Phil Dyer is a Reader/Associate Professor of Chemistry at Durham University. He moved back to Durham in 2004, after starting his independent research career at the University Leicester in 1998. Previously, Phil completed his undergraduate studies at Durham, where he stayed on to complete his PhD working on a project jointly supervised by Prof. Vernon Gibson and Prof. Jas Pal Badyal. Subsequently, Phil held a Royal Society Science Exchange Fellowship at the Laboratoire de Chime de Coordination in Toulouse (France) working in the group of Prof. Guy Bertrand (1994-1995). On returning to the UK, Phil held a fixed-term lectureship at Imperial College, London, associated with the group of Prof. Mike Mingos.

Phil was the recipient of 20th joint Royal Society/Academie des Sciences Franco-Brittanique Young Scientist award in 2007. Phil has held visiting Professor positions at the Université de Rennes 1 (France) and at the University of Calabria (Italy). Between 2010 and 2013, Phil was the recipient of a Royal Society Industry Fellowship, which enabled him to spend time working with Johnson Matthey Catalysts (Billingham, UK). Phil is currently head of the Inorganic Chemistry teaching in Durham and Deputy Director of the University’s Centre for Sustainable Chemical Processes (CSCP).
